Session in honor of Al Curran at 2008 GSA in Houston

We are organizing a session (with oral presentations) in honor of Al Curran for the GSA Meeting in Houston, October 5-9, 2008, and we would like to encourage you to submit an abstract for this session (please see below). Contributions on a wide range of topics are welcome.

Like the way organisms leave lasting traces in the geological record, Al Curran has inspired generations of students and colleagues who will gather to celebrate his accomplishments as a paleontologist, sedimentary geologist, and geoscience educator.

Description: With his diverse professional interests, prolific and active research collaborations, and innovative and effective pedagogical approaches, Al Curran has deeply influenced and inspired generations of his students and colleagues. This session is an opportunity to celebrate with Al Curran his many accomplishments as a superb scientific researcher, an award-winning educator, and a far-reaching contributor to the community. Presentation topics are expected to range from discussion of various educational initiatives to presentation of results of stratigraphic, paleoecological, and paleobiological studies from both carbonate and siliciclastic sedimentary environments of Neoproterozoic to Recent age.
